Guinea Cultural Arts Residency – Study Abroad & Cultural Exchange Program
The Guinea Cultural Arts Residency provides students and artists with an immersive learning experience in the traditional music, dance, and cultural heritage of Guinea, West Africa. Led by master cultural artist and educator Mamady Mansare, the residency connects participants directly with tradition bearers and community members.
Participants engage in intensive daily workshops in djembe and dunun drumming, Mandingue dance, traditional singing, and cultural history, while also exploring complementary arts such as instrument making, mask and costume creation, traditional cooking, and local language introduction.
By living within the community and participating in village life, ceremonies, and cultural gatherings, students gain a deeper understanding of the social and historical context of West African arts. The residency may culminate in a final performance or cultural presentation, allowing participants to share their learning experience with the community.
This program is ideal for universities, cultural organizations, artists, and students seeking an authentic cultural exchange and hands-on learning experience.
